About JobRatings
A job advertisement asks someone to invest their time, share their experience and consider a change in their working life. It should give them enough information to decide whether that opportunity fits.
JobRatings exists to make those expectations visible. We publish a Job Ad Standard and assess how completely an advertisement meets its disclosure requirements.
Why we started
Candidates are expected to explain their experience, skills and qualifications. We believe employers should offer the same openness about the opportunity.
Salary, location, responsibilities and requirements belong at the start of the conversation. When those details are missing, candidates must decide whether to apply with an incomplete picture.
Our aim is straightforward: make the information people need easier to publish, easier to find and easier to compare.
A shared structure
Every role is different. The questions people need answered are often similar.
What will I do? Where will I work? What experience is required? What is the salary? What happens after I apply?
The Job Ad Standard gives employers a consistent structure for answering those questions. It sets out the required wording and the details that must accompany it. Employers can describe their business and opportunity in their own voice while making the essentials easy to find.
What the badge tells you
A JobRatings badge summarises how completely the assessed advertisement meets the published standard. The supporting record explains the result and identifies the criteria used.
JR-A represents complete disclosure under the assessed standard. The other grades show how much of that standard has been satisfied.
Built to be understood
Employers and candidates can see the criteria behind the assessment.
The report shows which requirements were satisfied and where wording or information needs attention.
If a result appears incorrect, it can be raised for manual review with supporting evidence.
People can agree or disagree with individual criteria and help identify where the standard needs further discussion.
A better starting point
The right information helps answer a practical question: is this opportunity worth pursuing?
A shared standard provides a repeatable way to explain the role and check for missing details before publication.
It offers a consistent reference when preparing and presenting advertisements.
Help shape the standard
Explore the criteria, vote on the requirements and share a specific improvement. Published changes remain documented so people can understand what changed and why.
